About the CQI Volunteering Impact award

The CQI Volunteering Impact award recognises the volunteering activity or activities which have made a demonstrable impact on the CQI, its members and/or the wider quality profession.

CQI and IRCA members are invited to add their vote to our judging process and help determine the winner of this award. Voting will be open during volunteers week, from 1-5 June, and members will be sent an email through which they can register their vote.

The winner will be announced on Thursday 25 June 2026 at Quality Live in London.

Meet our finalists:

Richard Brett

Richard volunteers in many capacities for the CQI, notably as deputy lead of the Audit Network, a member of the Content Advisory Panel and more recently, the CQI Council. Over the past year Richard has clocked up over 60 volunteer hours, with roles include writing articles, supporting audit podcast curation and production and organising webinars, all underpinned by a commitment to share his career’s worth of knowledge and expertise with the wider CQI and IRCA membership.

Content Advisory Panel (CAP)

The Content Advisory Panel (CAP) work alongside the CQI’s content team to ensure all professional development content are accurate, relevant and aligned with members needs. The panel support activity including Quality World magazine, e-learning, webinars, articles, videos and podcasts. CAP are involved at every touch point from planning and curation to production and peer-reviewing – ensuring a high-quality output of CPD is available to members throughout the year.

Defence Network

The Defence Network has undergone a significant transformation driven entirely by volunteer effort. Once a network struggling to generate member value, it has evolved into an active, structured, and highly engaged community that now delivers meaningful support to quality professionals across the defence sector. Strengthening governance, expanding opportunities for knowledge sharing and stablishing a dedicated growth strategy have all been key to the network’s success this year.

Nuclear Network

The Nuclear Network has demonstrated exceptional volunteer leadership, collaboration and professional influence. Highlights from the past year include a volunteer-led event showcasing innovation in nuclear quality, which attracted almost 200 in-person attendees. In addition, the network has developed a nuclear complement to the CQI’s Profession Map, addressing resource gaps in key nuclear quality roles and supporting talent acquisition and retention.

Scotland Networks (collective)

The East, North and West of Scotland networks have worked collaboratively to deliver high-quality, inclusive and relevant CPD in partnership with industry experts and the CQI. With a focus on reaching students and early-career professionals, their combined efforts have resulted in strong relationships with regional Universities - demystifying the quality profession to those exploring career opportunities as well as forging wider partnerships to deliver strategic quality research.
